Beneficiary
The proceeds from the Sunrise Stampede are donated to support drug prevention training and activities in the St. Vrain Valley School District. Since the beginning of the race in 1986, the Stampede has contributed over $160,000 to the school district for their drug prevention program. These dollars have benefitted hundreds of the children in the school district.
Many of the district’s staff members have taken training to teach the students how to apply conflict resolution skills, peer mediation and peer mentoring. Others have learned strategies for identifying and supporting at-risk students, such as cultural competency and suicide risk reduction. Student activities have included school assemblies, Red Ribbon Week supplies, violence prevention training, after-prom parties and the implementation of school-wide Positive Behavior Support.
